From way back in the beginning, FileMaker Pro has always been able to be used on Windows, as well as Macs. Announcing that they are “an Apple company” in no way implies that it only runs on Macs. What needs to be understood however, is that FileMaker Pro, is very much a cross-platform software application. They are simply saying “Claris, an Apple Company”. The term they are using, I think is simple and clear. But now they have clarified that relationship again. Then a few years ago they started announcing their relationship to Apple, as a subsidiary. But what many people do not know is that Claris is actually owned by Apple!įor a number of years, they didn’t advertise the fact. One of those companies was Claris, which then changed their name to FileMaker, and a few years ago, they changed it back to Claris again. It was owned by a few different companies during its early years. Best would be one installer to install the right version for the current Windows variant.Claris, the makers of FileMaker Pro, have clarified their relationship to Apple.įileMaker has been around for more than forty years. On the long run, we hope Microsoft will provide Windows Server for ARM CPUs and Claris can provide their server for Windows ARM.

MBS FileMaker Plugin works fine and you can use the function SystemInfo.WindowsMachineInfo to query the machine info. After a restart, we can open the console and see the server running: Once this is installed, the FileMaker Server installer runs through without complains. I used the "Install this extension" button on iis.net/downloads/microsoft/application-request-routing website. But you can go on one of the Microsoft websites and download the Application Request Routing installer and install it manually. The installer will complain about missing Internet Information Services and Application Request Routing. Running a FMS on Windows 11 and not Windows Server 2016 or 2019 is not really supported, but can work. Since there is no native version for ARM64, the application runs in emulation within Windows. Within the ARM version of Windows 11, you can install FileMaker Pro 19.5 and it seems to work fine. Install Parallels and let it install Windows 11. You like to have a FileMaker Server on the go with your Macbook (Pro) M1 or M2? Install FileMaker Server on Windows 11 on Apple Silicon
